When you were growing up, did you hear your parents tell you “Work hard. Get good grades. Go to college. Get a job…”
In the house Jan grew up in it was “School doesn’t end when you graduate from high school It ends when you graduate from college. Then and only then can you decide what you want to do…” For Jan, it went more like this. Struggle and hate school. What she loved was swimming. So her story went more like … Train incredibly hard, long hours. Go to the Olympics…. Get a Gold Medal and then …… Well it didn’t exactly turn out like that either. She didn’t get to the Olympics. Instead she chose college and the corporate job.
After seventeen years in the corporate world, Jan reached a point where she was totally unfulfilled. No matter what she did it seem like she couldn’t climb one more rung on the corporate management ladder. “I wanted something more, something better for myself.” She said. “So I required and began a journey in entrepreneurship”.
Jan and her business partner who was her Husband were successful, but at what cost? The businesses took all their time and energy. “I had money, but I was time broke. There was no time for things that were important to my Husband and myself. We wanted to spend time with family and our grandchildren. We wanted time to do things that we enjoyed doing together. That didn’t happen and then our world crashed in on us.”
It was about this time, that a trusted client who had become a friend over the years introduced Jan to the concept of residual income. The concept of doing something one time and getting paid over and over again. It changed her life. “I realized I had gotten it all wrong. I realized that everything that I had done up to that point was just trading time for money. My health suffered, my personal life suffered, everything I thought I was working for was suffering . If I got sick or had a car accident such as my husband had, the money would stop flowing in.”
Residual income, a better way to make money.
